Gamers Nexus posted 3080 benchmarks showing the difference in real-world performance between PCIe gen3 and gen4, and the results aren’t that impressive. Quake II RTX was 3.4% faster at 1080p and 2.3% faster at 4K on Gen4. 4. GIGABYTE X570 I AORUS Pro WIFI – Best Mini-ITX Motherboard with PCI-E 4

There are not many x570 ITX motherboards on the market, but the GIGABYTE X570 I AORUS Pro WIFI captured our attention with its excellent build, advanced features, and a reasonable price tag. Mini-ITX motherboards are great for building a small form factor (SFF) PC, but they aren’t as popular as ATX boards. This motherboard packs Wi-Fi 6, decent cooling, PCIe 4.0 support, and reliable power delivery to bring the best out of the 3rd Gen Ryzen processors.

The only downsides with the mini-ITX PC in the limited expandability, but you can build a high-end gaming PC to rival ATX build.

Design

The compact X570 I AORUS Pro WIFI sports a clean design with black finish and silver accents. It comes with a pre-mounted IO shield with the cover extending to the other end of the PCIe slot. There is RGB lighting onboard with multiple RGB headers to customize the lighting show for more aesthetics. The motherboard uses direct 8 Phase Digital Power design with each stage providing 70A, delivering enough and precise power to the power-hungry components. Thinking of overclocking your PC? no problem.

The X570 I AORUS Pro WIFI comes with two massive heatsinks with one on the VRM and another on the chipset that doubles up as an M.2 heatsink. The chipset heatsink is actively cooled by a smart fan with three different operating modes; you can choose between silence or performance. Despite its compact design, the impressive cooling means your PC can run at its peak with low temperatures.

But there is one flaw. The chipset gets very hot, and the small heatsink fan cannot quite keep up. The fan gets pretty loud.

ASUS TUF Gaming B550M-PLUS is another B550M motherboard that shows the real value of the B550 chipset over X570. While it is limited to 3rd Gen and future Ryzen processors, AMD’s B550 chipset is where the value lies. This motherboard provides full support for PCIe 4.0, more expansion slots, and other advanced features, yet it costs less than the GIGABYTE X570 I AORUS Pro WIFI.

So, are there any compromises, or it’s just a perfect board with a lower price?

Well, while this motherboard ticks all the boxes for most users, there are still some loose ends. It’s a micro-ATX motherboard, meaning few expansion slots than ATX boards. The board only supports CrossFire multi-GPU, and there are no Type-C or USB 3.2 Gen2 headers. But unless you want to build a high-end PC for extreme overclocking, the onboard feature set is more enough for most builds.

Design

The TUF Gaming B550M-PLUS combines a dark theme with white and yellow accents. It’s a very good-looking board with a sturdy build and outstanding aesthetic design. While most gaming boards include more RGBs LEDs, Asus went for a few LEDs on the far-right corner. But you can always extend the RGB lighting through the addressable header for a personalized experience. For a motherboard targeted to gamers, Asus uses 10 (8+2) power stages to deliver precise power to bring out the best performance from the Ryzen processors and other critical components.

The motherboard comes with three heatsinks for robust cooling and to prevent overheating on heavy loads. There is the VRM heatsink for conducting heat from the MOSFETs, a single M.2 heatsink, and a fanless chipset heatsink.
